Living in Fallbrook: Small-Town Life in the Avocado Capital
Fallbrook is a rural, tight-knit community known as the Avocado Capital of the World. It's a place for buyers who want acreage, oak-shaded hills and a slower pace, while still being within reach of the coast and Temecula.
What makes Fallbrook special
The annual Avocado Festival each spring fills Main Avenue with food, music and guacamole contests. The Fallbrook Art Center and a growing collection of public art give downtown a creative feel. Local wineries, nurseries and farm stands dot the back roads.
Outdoors and open space
The Santa Margarita River Trail follows one of the last free-flowing rivers in Southern California. Live Oak Park offers shaded picnic areas, and the surrounding hills are popular with hikers, cyclists and horse owners.
Neighborhoods and properties
- Downtown Fallbrook for walkable homes near shops and restaurants.
- Gird Road and De Luz areas for larger parcels, groves and privacy.
- Horse and agricultural properties throughout, many with room for gardens, barns or an ADU.
Getting around
Fallbrook is unincorporated, so it keeps its small-town character. Interstate 15 and Highway 76 connect you to Temecula, Oceanside and the rest of San Diego County, and Camp Pendleton is next door.
